‘Metamorphosis”

The last in a series of six, meditating on the organic mysteries of erotic energy. Expressing the journey of how deisres are manifest in to form through this electric current of aliveness.

Metamorphosis, represents a full cycle of transformation.

Echoing the start of the series with the repeated tableaux of the one breast, a white butterfly sits on the collaged image amid light and deep shadows.

The shadows representing the unconscious brought to consciousness. The shadow becoming a blessing rather than a burden.

Through the erotic cycle of something being birthed, an idea, an ovum, a chapter of life. There is a mourning of what is lost as well as a celebration of what has been gained.

The butterfly represents the fragility and strength it takes to transform ourselves, again and again and again.

Made with a combination of collage, chiaroscuro and photography.
